Over the coming months we will be expanding the e-Academy solution. The key building blocks currently being developed include:

• Web Portal: this provides access to a range of tools including events, news, information, forums, ask the experts and taster learning resources
  
  
• Virtual Learning Environment (VLE): an online environment for the management of learners, the learning activity and online assessments
  
  
• e-Learning Resources: learners will be able to access a range of e-learning modules through the VLE. Some of these modules will be generic in nature, whilst others will be bespoke solutions specifically developed for the Engineering e-Academy
  
  
• Online Assessment: a range of online assessment tools are available to help ensure evidence of actual learning and understanding. These tools include online e-quizzes, short answer assessments, e-portfolios and e-assignments
  
  
• e-Tutoring: learners can be tutored and supported online
  
  
• e-CPD: providing a route to professional development around the use of e-learning is crucial if the potential benefits of e-learning are to be maximised. The e-Academy will provide a number of e-CPD options for both individuals and organisations to develop their skills and understanding around the adoption of e-learning
  
  
• E-portfolio: a solution for NVQs including PMO, PEO and BIT
  

This solution will continue to be further developed and will be regularly reviewed to ensure that it meets the needs of the members and the sector within which they operate.
